Tuition-Based Training Tuition-based training makes a strong contribution to the sustainability of any Brownfields Job Development and Training program. Once students have graduated from your program and are working in the environmental field, they are often required to recertify. An example is the annual HAZWOPER recertification. If you have provided quality training to your graduates, they will be likely to return to your organization for recertification.
However, you need to make your graduates aware of your offerings. This is where graduate tracking pays off. Yesterday's graduates provide a ready-made market for tomorrow's recertification classes.
By the same token, offering recertification classes can help you track graduates. When they attend class, you can ask them directly of job or address changes. Furthermore, a graduate who recertifies demonstrates a continued commitment to your program and should be considered an ally when you need a testimonial, mentor, or speaker.
Recertification classes can also be offered to the public. Aggressively seeking out workers in the community (hands-on employees, managers, and supervisors) who might participate in your classes can create and sustain a solid financial base for your program. Publicizing your classes can be accomplished via paid advertising/promotion or public relations strategies. Back to Index of Program Maintenance & Sustainability |
