Environmental Response Television (ERTV)

(http://www.ertvideo.org/home.html) provides video support to USEPA's Environmental Response Team (ERT). ERTV responds to requests from the ERT to provide documentary video programs on alternative hazardous waste treatment technologies, unique hazardous waste sites, site investigations, and other ERT activities. The "Environmental Response Video News Magazine," which combines stories and news from the 10 EPA regions, is distributed quarterly to public groups, schools, the environmental industry, and government agencies.

HAZ-ED -- Classroom Activities for Understanding Hazardous Waste

(http://www.epa.gov/superfund/students/clas_act/haz-ed/hazindex.htm) can be used as part of a larger curriculum, as special stand-alone activities, or on an occasional basis to teach students about hazardous waste issues. HAZ-ED is a compilation of interdisciplinary activities that focus on the often complicated and sometimes controversial scientific, technical, and policy issues related to hazardous waste sites and Superfund. The instructional materials are designed to help students develop skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making. It also increases environmental awareness and encourages an environmental ethic in students.

The Hazardous Waste Clean-Up Information (CLU-IN) Web Site

(http://www.clu-in.org/docs/) provides information about innovative treatment and site characterization technologies to the hazardous waste remediation community. CLU-IN describes programs, organizations, publications, and other tools for federal and state personnel, consulting engineers, technology developers and vendors, remediation contractors, researchers, community groups, and individual citizens. The site was developed by the USEPA but is intended as a forum for all waste remediation stakeholders. CLU-In includes publications on brownfields issues; for example, one such publication is Road Map to Understanding Innovative Technology Options for Brownfields Investigation and Cleanup, Third Edition.

This program has trained over a million workers to safely handle hazardous waste and to respond to disasters involving hazardous materials. The National Clearinghouse supports the work of WETP by facilitating national workshops on safety and health topics and by maintaining this Web site, which contains documents developed by WETP as well as curricula created by their awardees. These curricula are focused on OSHA's hazardous waste worker standard (HAZWOPER) and are available at no costs to other training organizations.
